Enter 50 in both the width and height fields. Turn the Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox off before hitting resize. With it on and a non-square original, one side reaches 50 and the other follows the original proportions, so the output will not be a perfect square. Turning it off forces both dimensions to exactly 50.
A centered close-up portrait or a simple logo works best at this size. Wide photos or images with the subject off to one side tend to look unrecognizable at 50x50. For multiple images, upload everything at once and download as a ZIP when processing is done.

Output Format at This Size
PNG handles transparency and keeps edges clean at 50x50 better than JPEG. For profile photos without transparency JPEG is acceptable but PNG gives a noticeably sharper result on small square thumbnails. At this size the file size difference between the two formats is negligible so choosing PNG by default is the easier approach.
