LinkedIn is the one social platform where profile image quality has a direct impact on professional credibility. A blurry or badly cropped profile photo on LinkedIn gets noticed in a way that it might not on other platforms. The recommended profile photo size is 400x400 pixels minimum, though uploading at 800x800 gives LinkedIn more resolution to work with when displaying at different sizes across the platform. The cover photo that appears behind the profile photo is recommended at 1584x396 pixels. Post images that appear in the LinkedIn feed display best at 1200x627 pixels. Getting all three right is what makes a LinkedIn profile look complete and intentional.

How to Resize Images for LinkedIn

For the profile photo, enter 800 in both the width and height fields and turn the Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox off for a forced square. For the cover photo, enter 1584 in the width field and 396 in the height field. For feed post images, enter 1200 in the width field and 627 in the height field.

LinkedIn displays profile photos as a circle in some contexts and as a square in others. Centering the subject with space around it works for both display formats. For cover photos, keeping the most important content in the center of the image avoids it being obscured by the profile photo overlay on the left side of the cover area.

Upload multiple LinkedIn assets at once and download everything as a ZIP when done.

LinkedIn Image Size Reference

Profile photo: 800x800 pixels recommended for best quality, minimum 400x400. Cover photo: 1584x396 pixels. Feed post image: 1200x627 pixels. Company page logo: 300x300 pixels. Company page cover: 1128x191 pixels. These dimensions cover the main assets needed for a complete personal or company LinkedIn presence.

Output Format for LinkedIn Images

JPEG works well for profile photos and cover images that are photographic. PNG is the better choice for company logos, graphic post images and anything with text overlays or flat color design elements. LinkedIn has a 8MB file size limit for profile photos and a 10MB limit for cover images, so standard JPEG or PNG files at the recommended dimensions will be well within these limits.
